Why Glass Works for Cream Formulas
Glass is inert. Nothing migrates out of it into your cream, nothing from the formula attacks the container, and unlike plastic there is no permeation - fragrance molecules do not gradually walk out through the wall during a two-year shelf life. That property is why prestige skincare keeps returning to glass even when plastic is cheaper and lighter.
The trade-offs are physical and worth planning around:
- Weight: at about 2.5 g/cm³, glass is roughly twice the shipping weight of acrylic and several times that of PP. Freight per unit is higher and case packs are smaller.
- Breakage: glass breaks. It does not bend, does not scuff like acrylic, and does not deform under pressure, but a bad drop ends it. We design packing around that (see packing section) and we quote the failure honestly rather than pretending otherwise.

Light-Sensitive Formulas: Choosing the Right Body
Clear frosted glass shows the product, which most brands want - until the formula contains retinol, vitamin C, some peptides or certain botanical extracts that degrade under light. Then the honest answer is to stop showing the product.
- Amber or violet filtering bodies block the damaging wavelengths while still reading as glass, not as plastic.
- Opaque sprayed coating gives full protection and any colour, at the cost of the glass look on shelf.
- Secondary carton is the cheapest answer and lets you keep the clear frosted jar for the shelf shot.
Tell us which actives are in the formula and we will say whether clear is safe. If it is not, we would rather sell you an amber jar than take a reorder you cannot use.

A: Glass breaks, and we do not pretend otherwise. Each jar is partitioned in inner boxes with layer separation, cartons are weight-limited and drop tested. Tell us about any damage on arrival with photos and we handle it against the carrier claim.
Q: What caps fit these jars?
