Biodegradable Cosmetic Packaging

Biodegradable materials are primarily based on plastics, with the addition of photosensitizers, modified starches, biodegradable agents, and other raw materials. These materials reduce the stability of traditional plastics, accelerating their degradation in the natural environment and thus reducing pollution.

Based on their degradation methods, they can be categorized into biodegradable materials, photodegradable materials, thermally degradable materials, and mechanically degradable materials.

Traditional biodegradable materials, such as starch-based materials, polylactic acid (PLA), and PVA films, are among the most maturely used. Other novel biodegradable materials, such as cellulose, chitosan, and protein biodegradable materials, also have significant development potential.

Compared to single-use traditional packaging, recyclable and biodegradable packaging can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80%.

Biodegradable materials offer advantages in performance, practicality, degradability, and safety. In terms of performance, biodegradable plastics can meet or even surpass the performance of traditional plastics in certain specific fields;

In terms of practicality, biodegradable plastics have similar application and hygiene properties to their traditional counterparts;

In terms of degradability, after use, biodegradable plastics can degrade relatively quickly under natural conditions (specific microorganisms, temperature, and humidity), becoming easily usable fragments or non-toxic gases, reducing their impact on the environment;

In terms of safety, the substances produced or remaining during the degradation process of biodegradable plastics are harmless to the environment and will not affect the survival of humans and other organisms.
